Today the mini-police welcomed The High Sheriff of Somerset, Robert Drewett, to Peasedown St John Primary School.

The High Sheriff was wearing his traditional ceremonial uniform, including his silver sword. He explained that the role of High Sheriff has been in existence for many hundreds of years. The children had a short history lesson finding out how the role has changed and why.

The children explained what they do as mini-police cadets and how they help the community of Peasedown. They were able to ask questions such as ‘Which parts of your role do you enjoy?’ and ‘What charities and organisations do you support?’.

The High Sheriff presented a prize to Millie for her winning crime awareness poster and watched the cadets demonstrate how they fall into line.

Thank you High Sheriff for your visit and thank you PCSOs Tony and Louise for arranging this amazing opportunity.
