Welcome to PSJ primary!

I am very proud to be the headteacher at Peasedown St John Primary School. PSJ is a wonderful school and I hope that you find everything you need to know on our website.
PSJ Primary is a welcoming and vibrant school which aims to inspire everyone to achieve excellence – in their learning and as young people. We want excellence to be a habit and an aspiration for our whole community.

Underpinning our vision for excellence are our four core Values: Curiosity, Aspiration, Resilience and Empathy: we CARE at PSJ Primary. In our inclusive school we celebrate difference and diversity, and draw inspiration from role models around the world. We aim to encourage and enable children to be curious about the world and to have high aspirations for themselves and their community. Through valuing resilience and empathy we teach our children how to reach their potential and how to care for each other in our ever-changing modern world.

The best way to find out about our school is to visit and look around. Please call the office to arrange a visit. I look forward to showing you around and introducing you to our amazing school community.

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

On behalf of the local governing body I welcome you to the school’s website and am delighted that you have stopped by. We hope that you find it informative and interesting.
We know that visiting a website may not always give you the answer that you are seeking; therefore we encourage contact by phone, email or pop in.  Our staff team are approachable and will make every effort to help with queries or questions.

Our role as governors is to ensure that the school’s high standards are maintained. Our vision is for all pupils to experience educational excellence in a safe, vibrant and stimulating environment. We do this by supporting and challenging the Headteacher and the senior leadership team, allowing us to monitor and scrutinise pupil progress, quality of teaching, school improvement and to help the school move forward.

I feel very privileged to have been elected chair of governors and work with a wonderful team of governors who come from a range of backgrounds and have different skills.  We are extremely thankful to have a talented and dedicated staff team led by an experienced and inspirational Headteacher.

I want to finish by saying that your opinions and views matter to us and welcome feedback from parents, carers, the community, as well as visitors to the website seeking a new school or nursery place.

Claire Mirams
Chair of Governors
