We had such a fantastic day in the woods today!
After our walk to the clearing, we started with a group chat about setting boundaries to help everyone stay safe. Then we played several rounds of “1, 2, 3, Where Are You?” which is a lot of fun in the woods as there is so many amazing places to hide!
We took things down a notch with a quiet solo activity: each child found a peaceful spot to sit and draw what they could hear in the forest. The air was filled with birdsong – from wrens to song thrushes, it was a true woodland symphony!
After that, the children teamed up in small groups to build their own dens which included campfires, seating, beds and much more. The imagination and teamwork were incredible to watch. We wrapped up the day with some well-deserved free play!
A huge well done to Year 5!
