In Art, we have been learning about Georgia O’Keeffe and exploring her beautiful, close-up flower paintings. We looked closely at her work and talked about how she often turns flowers into bold, abstract shapes by zooming in and simplifying forms.
We began by sketching our own flowers, thinking carefully about how to create an abstract style. First, we studied the structure of a flower, then added a central point before building out the petals.
After sketching, we experimented with charcoal. It was exciting to try a different medium and look at just a few examples of the amazing things we created!
