Eco Team & Pupil Voice Buddy Bench

Our Eco Team and Pupil Voice team have joined forces this term to research, build, decorate and present a new Buddy Bench for our playground.

Here’s what they had to say:

Our bench is eco-friendly because it is not made of new wood. It is made from an old bunk bed!

This means we are not wasting trees. Trees give us oxygen.

If we had burnt the wood, it would have added to global warming. We are recycling instead!

We painted it pale blue because it is a calm colour.

There is a rainbow on it for our school symbol, and also because the different colours show how we are all different. 

There are bees because bees work together as a team. 

If you sit on it, you might feel like you were sitting in the clouds! 

We sent out a survey about what made people happy or worried in school and some people were worried about not having anyone to play with at break or lunch time. 

Pupil Voice wanted a Buddy Bench so that no-one feels alone and left out in the playground.

If your friend is away, you can sit on the bench and someone might come and sit with you. You could make a new friend.

Next year…

The new Eco Team might want to add planters of recycled wood with herbs that smell nice. 

We could use the herbs in the new Cookery Corner!

We could add a chalkboard section for doodling and drawing.
