On Friday 19th April 2024, Year 2 went on a trip to the SS Great Britain in Bristol, to kick off our History topic about Brunel.  We found out lots of information about the achievements of Brunel and discovered what an innovative engineer he was! We took part in a workshop to discover how the use of steam engines in ships made global travel much faster and smoother than before. We explored the ship and found out how Victorian people travelled across the world in style onboard.  The children were very brave about facing the mannequins and enjoyed listening to the ‘talking toilet’!  We also explored the Being Brunel museum and went onto the dry dock to see the ship’s hull.  We had a great day and it left lots of the children worn out on the way home!
