Today, our Year 1 children had another fantastic adventure at Forest School!

Alongside our usual favourite activities – digging in the sandpit, cooking up imaginative delights in the mud kitchen, and working together to build cosy dens – we began a special new project: making our very own wind chimes using natural clay. The children loved rolling and cutting the clay into different shapes, getting hands-on with nature and starting to design their unique hanging decorations. We can’t wait to see them finished and tinkling in the breeze!

There were also plenty of choices to spark curiosity and creativity. Some children chose to make bird feeders, helping our local wildlife as the colder weather approaches, while others took their caterpillar models out to collect real leaves – a perfect mix of art, science, and play.

To finish off our session, we experienced a very special treat: washing our hands with Mrs Monks’ homemade conker soap! Made from natural ingredients and full of forest-y goodness, it was a lovely way to end our outdoor learning with fresh, clean hands and big smiles.

Well done, Year 1 – another brilliant day of learning through nature!
