Year 5 has been working very hard in DT this last week in learning all about pulleys and then creating our own! Look out for our finished product next week!

In Science this term, we have been investigating various forces. We have enjoyed planning, undertaking and evaluating lots of different experiments to learn all about friction, gravity,    air resistance and water resistance.

In Maths, over these next few weeks, we are multiplying. We started with 4 digits x 1 digits using concrete resources (counters and place value charts), then moved on to drawing pictures for this before starting the abstract written method. We have now moved onto 2 x 2 digits and are learning the long multiplication method for this. Ask your child to show you the step-by-step method they have been taught to help them. If needed, the teachers will be happy to show you how to do this so you can help your child at home too. Alternatively, look out for our email about CPG books which you can buy at a discounted rate which might give some tips and clues as well as more practice questions.
