What a wonderful week in Year 5. In English, we are continuing to write sentences about Scott and his journey to the South Pole. We are really impressed with the children’s amazing use of fronted adverbials and noun phrases and are now beginning to teach relative clauses:

English Grammar: Relative clauses 1 - introduction & relative pronouns

In Maths, we have been learning how to use a numberline. We are great at placing numbers on a numberline when it starts at 0 but are struggling when the numberline does not start at 0. If you have chance it would be brilliant if you could talk to your child/work out how to answer the following questions:

Estimate on a Number Line to 10,000 – Classroom Secrets | Classroom Secrets

In Art this week we have been having a go with batik which is the art of decorating cloth with wax and dye and in Science this week we have been talking about variables when investigating insulators.
