It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks in Year 4!
In English, we’ve been stepping into the shoes of the famous explorer Ernest Shackleton, writing diary entries from his perspective. This has beautifully linked with our Geography lessons, where we’ve been learning all about Antarctica, and our Guided Reading text, which follows Maisie and her father on their own incredible journey to the icy continent.
In Maths, we’ve been working hard on adding and subtracting 4-digit numbers. We’ve explored this using concrete resources, pictorial representations, and abstract strategies such as the formal column method.
Over in DT, we’ve proudly completed our pavilion projects, showcasing both creativity and teamwork. In Science, we wrapped up our topic on States of Matter with a fun hands-on experiment — creating the water cycle in a bag!
In French, we’ve been learning the names of 10 different musical instruments, adding to our growing vocabulary and in PE we have had fun swimming, playing cricket and doing dodgeball.
And last but not least… thanks to our fantastic learning and behaviour this term, we’ve filled our marble jar! As a reward, we’ll be celebrating tomorrow – a well-deserved treat for a wonderful term of hard work and enthusiasm!
Well done, Year 4!
