Despite the chilly weather, Year 4 showed fantastic resilience and enthusiasm during today’s Forest School session. Wrapped up warm and full of energy, the children embraced the wintry conditions and made the most of everything the outdoors had to offer.
As part of our practical skills work, the children continued developing their tool use by sawing wooden “cookies” and using hand drills to create handles for their whirly gig toys. This was a great opportunity to practise patience, coordination and safety awareness. The whirly gigs will be completed in our next Forest School session, and the children are already very excited to see their finished toys in action.
Alongside this, there was plenty of imaginative and active play. The children loved exploring the ice, mixing it into the mud kitchen to create some very creative “recipes”! Others worked together to build dens, experimented on the chalk boards, and enjoyed a range of outdoor games including Cross the River, 1, 2, 3 Where Are You? and Simon Says.
It was wonderful to see such teamwork, creativity and determination on display. Even in the cold, Year 4 proved that Forest School fun never stops!
