Remote Learning
At Peasedown St John Primary School, we are fully committed to ensuring your child’s education continues smoothly if they are unable to attend school in person. While we always want our children in the classroom, we are fully prepared to deliver high-quality remote education when circumstances require it.
When is Remote Learning Used?
Remote learning is strictly reserved for situations where the school cannot open, or when an individual child is physically unable to attend school but is otherwise well enough to learn.
It is provided under the following specific circumstances:
- School closures: When the school site must close unexpectedly, such as during severe weather conditions or building emergencies.
- Agreed individual absence: When exceptional circumstances mean a child cannot attend school, and this remote learning arrangement has been discussed and agreed with the school in advance.
When Remote Learning is NOT Provided
- Illness: Remote learning will not be provided if your child is absent due to illness. If a child is unwell, their focus should be entirely on resting and recovering until they are fit to return to the classroom.
What to Expect
If an agreed remote learning scenario occurs, we aim to make the transition as easy as possible for your family:
- Daily Curriculum: We provide a timetable of activities that matches the learning happening in the classroom, covering core subjects like Reading, Writing, and Maths, alongside foundation subjects.
- Our Digital Platform: All remote learning resources and announcements will be shared via Arbor.
- Daily Contact: Teachers will keep in touch regularly to provide feedback, answer questions, and offer support.
- Printed Packs: If your child cannot access digital devices or the internet at home, we may provide printed work packs and resources.
