This week, we’ve had our second CARE week of the year, based around our value of Aspiration. On Monday, we did an activity for our Citizenship and Character Award, about how to look after a pet. We did some research about a chosen pet, then created our own factfiles. On Tuesday, we had a fantastic first aid workshop delivered by Air Ambulance, where we learnt lots of vital lifesaving skills. In the afternoon, we learnt about one of our core British values, Individual Liberty. We read a story, The Hueys in the New Jumper by Oliver Jeffers, about how one of the characters, Rupert, wants to be different by knitting himself a new jumper, but then everyone else copies him so he’s no longer individual. We then designed a new jumper for Rupert and ended up with lots of lovely, individual jumpers! On Wednesday and Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day by sharing our favourite books with each other, dressing up as book characters and enjoying bedtime stories after school. We ended our CARE week with our Careers Fair, where we learnt about the jobs of four different adults – a learning advisor, a head gardener, a teacher of the blind and a vet. The children have asked lots of great questions and behaved very respectfully towards our visitors. What a great week!
