What a fantastic first week we have had! We have all settled in brilliantly and it has been wonderful to see the children becoming familiar with their new routines, making friends and getting stuck into their learning.

We had great fun during our Science lesson, where we explored plant roots. We made predictions about whether lots of smaller, branching roots would be able to absorb more water than one large root. We then carried out our own experiment using cotton wool and water to investigate our ideas. The children were fantastic at making observations and discussing what they noticed!

In History, we have also been exploring chronology and thinking about how we place events and civilisations in time. The children were amazed to discover that the Ancient Egyptian civilisation lasted for around 3,000 years and began around 5,000 years ago! It certainly gave us plenty to think about when considering just how long ago this was.

It has been a brilliant start to the year, and we are so proud of how well everyone has settled. We are looking forward to another exciting week of learning!
