Year 4 have made a fantastic start to the term and have settled into their new routines with enthusiasm and curiosity.
In Maths, the children have been exploring place value, learning how to recognise and understand the value of each digit in a four-digit number. This has given them a solid foundation for the exciting maths challenges to come.
In English, the focus has been on SPaG, where Year 4 have been practising their use of fronted adverbials, conjunctions, and expanded noun phrases to make their writing more descriptive and engaging. During Guided Reading, the class have enjoyed answering VIPERS questions linked to Maisie vs Antarctica, helping them to develop their comprehension skills while sparking great discussions.
Our Geography lessons have taken us on a journey to the South Pole, where we’ve begun exploring Antarctica and learning about this unique and fascinating part of the world.
In DT, creativity has been flowing as the children designed and built sculptures using… spaghetti! It was a fun challenge that tested both imagination and problem-solving skills.
In Science, Year 4 have been investigating states of matter, discussing what makes something a solid, liquid or gas and carrying out observations to deepen their understanding.
This is just the start—Year 4 have already shown a real love for learning and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings!
