Last week we embraced the school’s value of empathy through a range of activities across the week starting with Odd Socks Day on Monday. On Monday we were also visited by Sandy a Guide Dog Ambassador and his handler Sarah who taught us all about how to help and understand people with vision impairments. On Monday afternoon we were split into vertical groups to complete activities with children from our houses but in different year groups. We were really proud of all the Year 4s and how they represented us they went to different classrooms around the school.

On Tuesday, Rev. Matthew Street led the school in a reflective Remembrance service. In the afternoon, we talked about dealing with emotions and created emotion masks which will be put up on our year group display board in the main school building.

On Wednesday, some children were able to take part in wheelchair basketball with Nova Sports. We also learnt all about our British Value ‘tolerance of other faiths’ by taking part in activities to do with The Mid-Autumn Festival, Diwali, Hanukah and Eid al-Fitr.

On Thursday, as well as enjoying swimming like normal, we also discussed Anti-Bullying week and the importance of using our own power for good.

On Friday, we learnt and taught each other a new skill which was on our Citizenship and Character award this term. We learnt some simple signs in British Sign Language and then taught our friends.

Well done to all of Year 4 for throwing yourself into every activity so that you learnt and got the most out of each experience.
