After observing a 2 minute silence to mark VE Day, Year 2 had a lovely afternoon doing VE Day activities. We watched a story called The Lion and the Unicorn, about a boy sent away as an evacuee during WW2. We talked about what evacuation was and the children showed a lot of empathy when we thought about how children must have felt being sent away from home to live with strangers. The children then created bunting while listening to 1940s music, before enjoying their ‘street’ party with lots of delicious food! Thank you to all the parents who sent in donations of food for us to share – we had a right royal feast!
