This morning, Year 2 had an online Art workshop led by Kersti at Victoria Art Gallery in Bath. Kersti taught us about optional illusions used in artists’ work, then recapped the children’s learning about Bridget Riley from Year 1. She is an artist who pioneered Op Art. The children then had a go at creating their own optical illusion artwork! They drew round geometric shapes, cut them out and arranged them on lined paper. They chose their compositions – whether to make the shapes obvious or to line them up with the lines on the paper to hide them. They then coloured them in. We had a wonderful morning creating our own Op Art!
