This term we are studying Plants. We planted cress on cotton wool and we have measured the visible shoots every week to see how much they have grown. We have dissected a tulip and identified the different parts. As a whole year group we went outside and observed where different plants lived. We identified the flowers/plants and described the environment they lived in.
You will have also noticed that we have planted a range of different plants outside in the year 3 planters. This will provide us with another opportunity to observe plants and how they contribute to pollination. We will be able to observe the life cycle of a plant and we can measuring plant growth.
Last lesson we got ‘hands-on’ with exploring seed dispersal. We placed lavender seeds into balloons and took them outside to exploded. We watched how the seeds scatter and disperse! We also made dandelions out of paper observing how different seeds disperse in different ways.
