On Thursday evening, a group of pupils, parents and staff took advantage of the free tickets to schools from Bath Philharmonia.
This is what we listened to:
Mussorgsky’s Night on a Bare Mountain
Imagine the sound of a group of witches having a wild and terrifying party with lots of dancing, but when the church bell chimes at 6am and the sun comes up, the witches vanish. It’s one of the BBC Ten pieces.
Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.3
17 year old pianist Lauren Zhang, the 2018 winner of BBC Young Musicians of the Year, performed Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto; one of the most technically difficult and electrifying piano concertos ever written.
Anna Clyne, Night Ferry
Anna Clyne plunges us into mountainous ferocious squalls and howling gales.
If you missed this concert, please look out for the next one in the summer. They are always advertised on the School Website.
