Covid 19

Alongside the school contingency plan for Covid19, please follow all other government guidance.

September 2021:

When to get a PCR test for your child:

  • your child has one or more of the following symptoms - a new continuous cough; a high temperature; a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
  • your child has taken a Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test which has a positive reading
  • your child has been in contact with someone in the last 48 hours who has received a positive PCR reading

How to get a PCR test:

please visit https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test for all information about how to get a free PCR either at a drive through centre, walk through centre or receive a postal test

Please keep the school office updated with any LFD and / or PCR test updates. Teaching staff will be in touch with information about work from home for your child(ren).

If you live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, you should stay at home and self-isolate. From 16 August, if you are fully vaccinated or aged under 18 years and 6 months you will not be required to self-isolate if you are a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.  However, current guidelines stipulate that everyone in that household are advised to also take a PCR test.

Even if you are vaccinated, you can still be infected with COVID-19 and pass it on to others. If you are identified as a contact of someone with COVID-19 but you are not required to self-isolate, you can help protect others by following the guidance on how to stay safe and help prevent the spread. As well as getting a PCR test, you may also consider:

  • limiting close contact with other people outside your household, especially in enclosed spaces
  • wearing a face covering in enclosed spaces and where you are unable to maintain social distancing
  • limiting contact with anyone who is clinically extremely vulnerable
  • taking part in twice weekly LFD testing

This advice applies while the person in your household with COVID-19 is self-isolating.
